Accessing Action Plans in Beacon is now controlled by Permissions and Roles assigned to a user. Permissions for users to add, edit, and delete events and Tasks in a Corrective Action are managed per-role.
Roles and Permissions Details
- Each user has a default (system) role, plus a specific role(s) that determine their access to Action Plans
- Roles can be fully customized for each organization
- The list of Roles and permissions settings in the system is global
- Four default roles are defined for each organization (listed below) with permissions assigned. Pre-defined roles can be customized to any set of permissions
- Only Organization Admins can edit and customize roles for the organization
- When editing roles for a user:
- Site Admin can only Add/ Remove roles they have for other users
- Org Admin can Add/Remove any roles for different users

Approve event | Can Approve a Corrective Action event if assigned as an event Approver | Users having this permission can be assigned as event Approvers to any Action Plan events within their scope; when assigned as an event Approver, a user can approve or reject a pending Action Plan. |
Approve Task | Can approve a Task within the Action Plan if assigned as a Task Approver | Users having this permission can be assigned as Task Approvers to any Action Plan Tasks (including Validation Tasks) within their scope; when assigned as a Task Approver, a user can approve or reject a pending Action Plan Task and/or Validation Tasks. |
Close Task | Can close a Task they have been assigned to | Users having this permission can be designated as Task Owners to any Action Plan Tasks (including Validation Tasks) within their scope; when assigned as a Task Owner a user can close an open Action Plan Task and/or Validation Tasks, also attach files to the Task. |
Delete event | Can Delete any Corrective Action within their scope | Users with this permission can delete any Action Plan within their scope, irrespective of whether it is assigned to the Action Plan. |
Edit Any Open event | Can Edit any open Action Plan within their scope | Users having this permission can edit any Open Action Plans within their scope; they can update the due date of the event, edit the description, add event attachments, add or delete Owners and Approvers, create new Tasks, and edit fields. |

Edit and Delete event Task | Can Edit and Delete event-specific Tasks for Action Plans they have been assigned to | Users with this permission can only edit and delete open event-specific Tasks for Open Action Plans if assigned as an Owner or Approver to the Action Plan. They can edit the Tasks description, title, and Task-related field checkboxes like 'Require Approval,' 'Validation Task,' 'Require Attachments,' and 'Notify Next Open Task Owner.' |

View | Can view all Corrective Actions within your scope | This is the default permission assigned to any user if one or more of the above permissions are enabled for a role; users having this permission can view all Action Plans (Findigs > Action Plans) within their scope. |
