Conditional questions in EASE allow you to set up pass/fail questions that trigger relevant follow-up questions based on the assessor's initial response.
Conditional questions are configured when creating or modifying an assessment document. Note that only questions unique to the site can be made conditional. Shared or global questions cannot be made conditional.
To configure conditional question, navigate to Library > Documents and select an accessible document from the library.
From the Questions tab of the document, all existing questions within the document will be visible. Locate the question you intend to become the initial conditional question and click on the three dots to find the Add Condition setting.
In the Add Condition setting window, define the conditions necessary for the initial response to trigger follow-up questions.
Select the appropriate Condition and Answer values to define the follow-up question trigger.
| Field | Selectable Values | Description |

| Condition | Is, Is Not | Determines whether the rule applies when the selected answer matches or does not match the chosen value. |
| Answer | Pass, Fail, N/A | The possible responses that can trigger the condition. |
Any combination of values can be used. The selected options will display as a sentence below. For example, If answer Is Fail then ask these questions:
Once the Condition and Answer have been configured, follow-up questions can be added.
To add follow-up questions:
Select + Add Question to create a new question directly in the document, or
Select Add From Library to reuse an existing question from the Question Library.
All subsequent (follow-up) questions that are added will appear at the bottom of the question dialog box.
if the Exclude Parent Question from Report setting is toggled on, the parent (initial) question will not be included in the Completion Percentage on the assessment report.
When finished, click Apply to save changes.
Once the document is submitted, these conditions will automatically apply to future assessments using this document.
